David Allen Vargo is so entertaining with his reading. He puts so much expression in every character making you want to never stop listening to his voice. Continuously amazing!
David Allen Vargo's narration dazzles us with his multitude of character voices and superb acting. Each subsequent book sees him revealing more of his amazing versatility. The two grandmothers are an absolute joy (wish there had been more of a story-line for them). The mother was a perfect snob and the sister was a hoot. Mr. Vargo has an amazing range, from deep, gruff- voiced Beau, to the Thai grandmother. It's hard to believe it was the same person. You can bet, I'm anxiously waiting for the next installment of Hell's Ankhor.

Unexpected surprise
David Allen Vargo was an unexpected surprise...This guy got inside my head. The rawness that he gave Joker was amazing. I'm not necessarily a stoic kind of guy, but haven't ever choked up in an audio book till now. The vulnerability in his voice in the last quarter of the book as Joker opens up to the man he loves and to his brothers MESSED. ME. UP. If I could give David 6 stars I would. I have my favorite narrators but none of them have knocked me over like Mr. Vargo. Phenomenal.

I have not read Hell's Ankhor Books 1 through 7, but I'm going back to rectify that oversight. I see that the first four books have different narrators. How can they possibly compare? Wow! A book eight that makes me want to go back and 'read' the series from book 1? INCREDIBLE!!!

As a huge fan of this series and of the ebook version, I was waiting for the audiobook and Mr Vargo´s work as always, was outstanding. Joker and Brennan's story has many of the elements that made every book as good or better than the previous one. The plotline is complex and entertaining, the romantic aspect is sweet and endearing, with many amazing dialogues, sometimes intense and emotional and others so peaceful, understanding and lovable that warmed your heart.This book is so good, it gets complemented by the very enjoyable narration of Mr Vargo with his amazing voice acting, energetic performance and smooth voice. Another wonderful book on the series! I can't wait for Nix's story!

A Wonderful Narration of a Classic Novel!
Some Dance to Remember is a classic gay novel, now available as an audiobook voiced by David Vargo. Given the numerous reviews already available about the novel itself, I will focus instead on the audiobook’s narration, which is superb. The novel is more a character study than an action thriller. Given that, it is important that the narrator give each person a distinct voice that captures that character’s essence. Mr. Vargo does that to a T. Whether its Kick, the Alabama-born bodybuilder, Ryan, our intellectual protagonist, or Sully, the porn-producer whose acerbic wit pierces the starry-eyed passions of his best friend, Ryan, Vargo brings them to life. If you like the novel, this audio rendition brings an added dimension to the characters that you won’t soon forget.

I am grateful to David Allen Vargo for lending his extensive theatrical skill to reading this powerful story by Douglas Whaley. Imaginary Friend contributes to understanding the experiences of atheists and LGBTQ+ people with thought-provoking analysis, an intense plot, and a good deal of humor. Mr. Vargo’s engaging reading brings the story and characters to life with distinct and natural sounding voices. So Well Written! So Well Acted!
I don’t know who to praise the most, the author or the narrator. The book is so well-written and so well-acted. It is dramatic but with excellent touches of humor. The characters are beautifully realized and interesting as well as admirable and appalling. The plot was full of surprises. I enjoyed it thoroughly, although the ending was every bit the downer it was meant to be. I was initially going to read this book, but the audio, with the combination of plot, character, and voices was definitely the best way to engage it. I could never have imagined the characters so perfectly without all the voices and accents.

Lydia Michaels could not have cast a better narrator to bring her characters and story to life. David Allen Vargo is a wonderfully talented narrator and a versatile character actor. He took each role and made it his own and was fabulous covering both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Vargo had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed and was believable in every role he played. You could hear how much heart he put into his work as he captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. The narrator did a fantastic job. His reading voice was pleasant. He expressed the emotions really well and brought the story to life. The narrator, David Allen Vargo, voices this romantic action-filled story with his resonating voice whether he is performing Kelly or Ashlynn or another character. Vargo captures and projects each character’s personality and emotions wonderfully. Vargo keeps the story moving at a steady and consistent pace. Further, he keeps the exhilaration between the main characters flowing. I’m not sure how he was able to keep his performance even at the end when all I could do was laugh. A professional to the end!

Perfectly cast narrator...fantastic!
There is nothing better than a perfectly cast narrator telling us a story, and David Allen Vargo is just that. He is fantastic, bringing each character, male and female to life. I love how he tunes into each personality, uses his Irish accent and breathes life into the story. And the use of sound effects at the most appropriate times gives us a very visual picture of what is happening. He does not overuse the effects, so they are not distracting, but an enhancement, creating a movie in our minds. He is fantastic!

David Allen Vargo is our narrator, and he has such a good voice, it is always a pleasure to listen to him. He gets to know his characters, picking the best voices and knowing their emotional measure. I love his effects with their inner monologues, letting us hear the characters' thoughts as if we are hearing them. He tuned into Jimmy and Mark perfectly, giving us the feelings of deceit, frustration, fear, grief and love, each using their personality takes and making the listen extremely realistic. This is a must listen!

This was not a narration, or a reading. Beautiful, An Amazing Must-Listen Love Story
The Perils of Intimacy shook me to my core! My husband looked at me like I was nuts as I sat there sobbing! This story is a must listen! It’s powerful, timely, beautifully written, magnificently narrated and impossible for me to give further plot details without playing spoiler! I can tell you that the characters are divine! Every single character is likable, beautifully developed and so realistic! I would love to have them all in my life, I would love to call them friend! The plot is perfectly written, easily understandable, smooth flowing, and interesting, heck, interesting doesn’t go far enough, it held me positively enthralled! The narration, THIS narration, truly BREATHED life into this magnificent story, these magnificent characters. I loved the voicing choices! The inflections and emotional rendering were perfect! I listened to the entire audiobook at 1.0 speed because I didn’t want to miss a single nuance! I will absolutely be listening to this one again. Five stunningly amazing stars across the board! This one was perfect and I loved it!

I don't think this story would have been anywhere near as enjoyable or successful without David Allen Vargo's perfect delivery. I'm caught myself wondering how many times he had to have read this book before he recorded. How can he make it sound this real, natural, and emotional. Some narrators focus on the dialogue with their performance, but I've found that the internal monologues are so important in these stories, that they really need high priority. Vargo handles all aspects of this reading so well. I will continue to say it. I'll listen to anything he records!

Firstly let me say I loved the narration, it felt more like I was listening to a tv show or a movie rather than listening to just a book being read which really aided into transporting into the story. Loved the chemistry between Dante and The Kid as well.

This audiobook was absolutely incredible. I think the story in itself would have deserved un unreserved 5-star review. It’s a fantastic story of spiritual rebirth and new beginnings, a fairy tale which is a bit sad and a lot hopeful, all in all a story which is good for the heart. Add to this an outstanding narration and the masterful use of sound effects, made listening to this book an almost magic experience.

Another surprising 5 star read from Rick Reed, who's become an author I can't help but love. This isn't my typical read/genre as I usually like to keep things light, but Rick's writing combined with the phenomenal narration of David Allen Vargo keeps me hooked throughout the entire book. First, I have to commend the immersive narration by David. When you listen to a book he's narrated, you'll wonder why more books aren't this enriched. The extra effort he makes to include background noises and inner thoughts you can differentiate really brings this book to the next level of voice acting. Rick manages to take a heavy topic of domestic and general abuse and turn it into a beautiful message of hope, love, and yes, even faith. I would highly recommend this author and especially the narrator to readers looking for something a little deeper than your usual romcom.
