David Allen Vargo is so entertaining with his reading. He puts so much expression in every character making you want to never stop listening to his voice. I hope he is able to narrate more of Aiden Bates’ books. With such an amazing story along with the vivid reading by the narrator… you will want to continue to listen.
Wonderful Book 5 in the series!
... Mr Vargo's narration was amazing. His deep voice and acting got me from the begining. An outstanding performance. Wonderful!
Beautiful friends to lovers story
...The narrator was amazing - I could happily listen to his narration all day.
...This is the first time I have listened to a book narrated by David Allen Vargo and I have to say I was immensely impressed!
He gave each of the main characters different and distinctive voices which matched their rough, tough personas. He also gave supporting characters different voices, even the women. I hope he narrates the rest of the series and look forward to him narrating other books in this genre.
This was an amazing listen.
David Allen Vargo's audio delivery was smooth, flawless and utter perfection!
Narrator David Allen Vargo delivers an amazing performance. From Dante's deep growly voice to Heath's wide-eyed youthful one to the many distinct side characters, his narration hits all the right emotional notes and is just perfect for the story. I have no doubt his narration greatly added to my enjoyment of this book.
Awesome! Loved it!
...I thought narrator David Allen Vargo did a super fantastic job with his deep sexy voice and theatrics bringing this story to life! It’s a great addition to this awesome series! Dante is a really good audiobook that I definitely recommend!
Well written and beautifully narrated
...The extraordinary narration in both Tex and now Dante make the stories jump right off the page. I feel like I know these people and want to become part of their world. A world which bears very little, if any, resemblance to reality, but it is a tremendous joy to spend time in nonetheless. These books are my new guilty pleasure.
...David Allen Vargo gives a solid performance. His voice fits with the tenor of the book and the series because it has a richness and depth to it that is the appropriate counterpoint to the characters and the story. He created two distinct voices and consistently delivered them. His diction is excellent and he is able to impart the right emotion behind the words...
Great story and performance!
David Allen Vargo's performance here was wonderful. It must be difficult to voice so many alpha males and keep every character distinct, yet he manages to do that and capture all the emotions perfectly as well.
David Allen Vargo gave a brilliant performance!
...I've become a fan of narrator David Allen Vargo. His narration really is a performance, and a terrific one at that. The deep, gravely quality to his voice is pitch-perfect for Beau, as is his lighthearted, playful delivery for Tru, and his variety of distinct voices including for the female characters is impressive.
Great story is done justice by fantastic narrator
I'll read anything this narrator performs. He took over the series at book 5, and the difference was immediately noticable.
Oh my, the narrator David he was absolutely spot on in this book. Every character he brought to life in my mind and he got all their wonderful quirks and characteristics down to a t. This book is a relisten for sure. Absolutely recommend!
David Allen Vargo provided excellent narration to bring these men to life, and I love how each character had their own unique voice that expressed their personality.
David Allen Vargo's narration dazzles us with his multitude of character voices and superb acting. Each subsequent book sees him revealing more of his amazing versatility. The two grandmothers are an absolute joy (wish there had been more of a story-line for them). The mother was a perfect snob and the sister was a hoot. Mr. Vargo has an amazing range, from deep, gruff- voiced Beau, to the Thai grandmother. It's hard to believe it was the same person. You can bet, I'm anxiously waiting for the next installment of Hell's Ankhor.
David Allen Vargo was an unexpected surprise...This guy got inside my head. The rawness that he gave Joker was amazing. I'm not necessarily a stoic kind of guy, but haven't ever choked up in an audio book till now. The vulnerability in his voice in the last quarter of the book as Joker opens up to the man he loves and to his brothers MESSED. ME. UP. If I could give David 6 stars I would. I have my favorite narrators but none of them have knocked me over like Mr. Vargo. Phenomenal.
David Allen Vargo just took a good book and brought it to life and I loved it. Joker stole my heart even more while listening to it than reading it.
The narrator David Allen Vargo is simply AMAZING!
I'm shaking over here! The narrator pulled me into this story so fast and so deep, my head is STILL spinning! I have not read Hell's Ankhor Books 1 through 7, but I'm going back to rectify that oversight. I see that the first four books have different narrators. How can they possibly compare? Wow! A book eight that makes me want to go back and 'read' the series from book 1? INCREDIBLE!!!
Narrator David Allen Vargo delivers another fantastic performance in this series, including voicing an especially unique accent for Joker, and his narration alone is worth giving this a listen.
This series has grown to be one of my favorites. Not only does David do an awesome job with the narration of the book, but the little spin he puts on the character's voices just makes the book so much more enjoyable. I loved the book when it came out but man I have to say I love the audio more.
As a huge fan of this series and of the ebook version, I was waiting for the audiobook and Mr Vargo´s work as always, was outstanding. Joker and Brennan's story has many of the elements that made every book as good or better than the previous one. The plotline is complex and entertaining, the romantic aspect is sweet and endearing, with many amazing dialogues, sometimes intense and emotional and others so peaceful, understanding and lovable that warmed your heart. This book is so good, it gets complemented by the very enjoyable narration of Mr Vargo with his amazing voice acting, energetic performance and smooth voice. Another wonderful book on the series! I can't wait for Nix's story!
A Wonderful Narration of a Classic Novel!
Some Dance to Remember is a classic gay novel, now available as an audiobook voiced by David Vargo. Given the numerous reviews already available about the novel itself, I will focus instead on the audiobook’s narration, which is superb. The novel is more a character study than an action thriller. Given that, it is important that the narrator give each person a distinct voice that captures that character’s essence. Mr. Vargo does that to a T. Whether its Kick, the Alabama-born bodybuilder, Ryan, our intellectual protagonist, or Sully, the porn-producer whose acerbic wit pierces the starry-eyed passions of his best friend, Ryan, Vargo brings them to life. If you like the novel, this audio rendition brings an added dimension to the characters that you won’t soon forget.
SOME DANCE TO REMEMBER
Potent Story with a Talented Narrator
I am grateful to David Allen Vargo for lending his extensive theatrical skill to reading this powerful story by Douglas Whaley. Imaginary Friend contributes to understanding the experiences of atheists and LGBTQ+ people with thought-provoking analysis, an intense plot, and a good deal of humor. Mr. Vargo’s engaging reading brings the story and characters to life with distinct and natural sounding voices. I highly recommend the book and will look forward to hearing more readings by David Allen Vargo.
FLAWLESS BOOK INDEED! I LOVED EVERY MOMENT!
SIMPLY THE BEST, AND NARRATION WAS SUPERB AS WELL. MORE! LOVED IT!!!!
Mr. Whaley manages to successfully weave some thought provoking theories and a suspenseful story to create an immensely satisfying narrative. My wife and I both listened and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mr Vargo’s reading was masterful; creating individual voices for a huge cast of characters. In short, a first-rate production.
A Great Read
This is a great read blending together a discussion of faith and atheism in a story filled with suspense. The characters are memorable and ably voiced by David Vargo. I have listened to a number of books read by Mr. Vargo and I am impressed. His range is remarkable giving each character a unique accent which brings them each distinctively to life.
So Well Written! So Well Acted!
I don’t know who to praise the most, the author or the narrator. The book is so well-written and so well-acted. It is dramatic but with excellent touches of humor. The characters are beautifully realized and interesting as well as admirable and appalling. The plot was full of surprises. I enjoyed it thoroughly, although the ending was every bit the downer it was meant to be. I was initially going to read this book, but the audio, with the combination of plot, character, and voices was definitely the best way to engage it. I could never have imagined the characters so perfectly without all the voices and accents.
A Compelling Performance...
The narrator, David Allen Vargo, gives a compelling performance. His unique voices help keep the story flowing and draw the listener in. Vargo speaks clearly and with appropriate emotion. His delivery is smooth and steady. I enjoy Vargo’s performances.
Wonderful Story & Narration, Gripping & Heartfelt...
Lydia Michaels could not have cast a better narrator to bring her characters and story to life. David Allen Vargo is a wonderfully talented narrator and a versatile character actor. He took each role and made it his own and was fabulous covering both the male and female roles, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. Vargo had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed and was believable in every role he played. You could hear how much heart he put into his work as he captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. David Allen Vargo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fabulous listen.
An Extremely Angsty Story with Terrific Narration...
I wanted to listen to this story based on the narrator alone because David Allen Vargo is just that fantastic...
I have come across the narrator David Allen Vargo once before and was very impressed with his narration skills and once again he was excellent. I would love to hear much more from him in the MM genre.
Exceptional Story & Listen...Riveting & Heartfelt!
...And for the fabulous narration, David Allen Vargo is an entertaining storyteller and a versatile voice artist. This is only my second book of his and I am looking forward to listening to more of his books. His talent knows no bounds, he does an amazing job bringing the characters to life, humanizing them with their emotions and their personality. He has a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, gives each a voice that is a perfect fit for that character and sounds believable in every role he plays. He sets the perfect tone for the story, captures all the character’s emotions and has you feeling every single one. Thank you for another amazing listen and for enhancing this exceptional story to another level.
5 Star Narration
The narrator did a fantastic job. His reading voice was pleasant. He expressed the emotions really well and brought the story to life. He added special effects when the MC was thinking and even sang a line. He gave each character a voice that was both distinct and suiting of them. It was a wonderful listening experience.
The narrator, David Allen Vargo, voices this romantic action-filled story with his resonating voice whether he is performing Kelly or Ashlynn or another character. Vargo captures and projects each character’s personality and emotions wonderfully. Vargo keeps the story moving at a steady and consistent pace. Further, he keeps the exhilaration between the main characters flowing. I’m not sure how he was able to keep his performance even at the end when all I could do was laugh. A professional to the end!
Profound and Emotional
Narrator David Allen Vargo brought so much depth, compassion, and expressiveness warranted to cherish this storyline and characters. I adored this book and highly recommend it.
Perfectly cast narrator...fantastic!
There is nothing better than a perfectly cast narrator telling us a story, and David Allen Vargo is just that. He is fantastic, bringing each character, male and female to life. I love how he tunes into each personality, uses his Irish accent and breathes life into the story. And the use of sound effects at the most appropriate times gives us a very visual picture of what is happening. He does not overuse the effects, so they are not distracting, but an enhancement, creating a movie in our minds. He is fantastic!
